What it is

BindCraft is an open-source, automated pipeline that designs de novo protein binders with experimental success rates of 10 to 100%, reusing AlphaFold2's weights to reach nanomolar affinity without high-throughput screening or known binding sites. It produced working binders against challenging targets including cell-surface receptors, allergens, and CRISPR-Cas9, reducing IgE binding to birch allergen in patient samples and redirecting viral capsids for targeted gene delivery.

Why it matters

De novo binder design usually needs large experimental screens. A pipeline that reaches functional binders one design at a time collapses the cost of building new therapeutics, diagnostics, and tools.
