What it is

The two biomarkers tracked, amyloid beta and tau, moved in the direction predicted by a multicompartment model built on published data for their release and clearance. Overnight monitoring with an investigational device tied the effect to sleep-active physiology, particularly reduced brain parenchymal resistance.
Why it matters
In animal models, glymphatic impairment alone can drive Alzheimer's pathology, but whether the system clears amyloid beta and tau in humans remained unknown. Reading the process out through morning plasma biomarkers lets it be observed in living people rather than inferred from animals.
