Check the FWCI of a list of papers

Paste up to 25 papers, one per line: DOIs, links or titles. You get one table of their field-weighted citation impact (FWCI), citation percentile, citations and retraction record, with the set's mean and median FWCI and a CSV. Free, no account.

Checking the list

Reading each paper from OpenAlex and Crossref. A list of 25 takes a few seconds.

Questions

Checking many papers at once

How do I check the FWCI of all my papers?

Paste your publications into the box, one per line: their DOIs are the most reliable, and links or full titles work too. Most publication lists already carry DOIs, so copying the DOI column of a list you keep, or of the works on your ORCID record, is usually the quickest way. Up to 25 papers go in one list; paste a longer list in batches.

Each row shows the paper OpenAlex matched, so you can see at once if a title found the wrong one, and every title opens that paper's full check.

What is the FWCI of a set of papers?

The usual summary is the mean of the papers' FWCIs, and that is the headline figure here. Citations are very unevenly spread, so one highly cited paper can lift the mean of a small set a long way; the median, shown beside it, is the value half the papers sit above, and is less swayed by one outlier.

The share of papers above 1.0 (cited more than the world average for comparable papers) and the count in the top 10% are often the clearest way to describe a set.

Why can a title match the wrong paper?

A title is looked up in OpenAlex's title search. When exactly one paper has that very title, the row uses it; otherwise the row takes the best-ranked result and marks it "closest title match", with the line you pasted, so you can spot a wrong one. Pasting the DOI avoids the question.

Where do the numbers come from?

FWCI, citation percentile and citation count come from OpenAlex, the open catalog of scholarly works, and the record column joins OpenAlex's retraction flag with the retraction, correction and expression-of-concern notices Crossref links to each paper. Both are read live when you check, and nothing you paste is stored.

For citations in all five open indexes, citations by year and the other signals the index reads, open the paper's single check from its title.

What FWCI is, what counts as a good one and why it can differ from Scopus is answered on the single paper check.
